I do not regret doing it. Though I had to trust that Megumi would find a way to retrieve us. Even if she hadn't... I knew that was my ultimate sacrifice.

[ And not in a "my life is worthless" way, either. ]

[aymeric says nothing, he just pets estinien's hair slowly]

[ He regards him, leaning his head into the attention and affection. ]

Let it be said that I am not angry with you. I understand why you did it. And I would not gainsay your reasons, nor those of the Scions, for putting your faith in the Warrior of Light. 'Tis possible if it were me in the same position, that I might have done precisely the same thing. Still...

[his hand moves from estinien's hair to cup his cheek]

[ Placing his hand over Aymeric’s. ]

Is that why you wanted me to guard the housing district, beloved?

[ Because Aymeric’s heart might hurt more if he were to lose Estinien again. It’s a light hearted statement for a heavy subject. ]

[chuckles]

I merely wanted you to do something a little less dangerous for a spell. And I thought that saving the world must be awfully tiring work.

[lets out a breath, thumb stroking estinien's cheek]

Ever have you possessed a righteous soul... of course you could not let them suffer.

Who says that I won't come back to be your housing district knight at some point.

[ Not at the present, of course. But Estinien could go home more often now that he wasn't doing the Scion's bidding at the present time. ]

Who could have? Their clutches were dying, their world was ravaged. They'd no will left.

And yet you, my friend, understood their pain as no one else.

[leans down and kisses his forehead]

[ Closing his eyes at that. Shaking his head just a little bit. ]

All of my life I was angry just like they were, 'tis what they needed. Someone to understand their pain. Even if their lack of will was frustrating.

And when you return home--to "Etheirys", as I now know--you aid their descendants in much the same manner. With understanding.

It is hard to imagine, aye? That a man who once hated dragons...wishes to help them.

Easier to imagine when he's right in front of me. And certainly no more difficult to imagine than a nation that warred for a thousand years could find peace with her erstwhile enemy.

[ They could always pass it off as a "leaders meeting". But this is something that right here Estinien could think of. His heart aches to think that he would not call Aymeric or Megumi his "beloved" back on their star. ]

[aymeric's eyes crinkle fondly]

I could find an excuse to visit, most likely. 'Twill be expected of me to make a courtesy visit to the satrap at some point.

[ Pulling Aymeric down by his shirt. ]

I will hold you to it.

[there's a rumble-growl-purr from his chest and he nuzzles at estinien's cheek]

[ Finally just, tugging him in for a kiss. ]

'Tis hard to think that we wouldn't have this.

[peacetalks]

... I know.

[softly, and then he shifts until he's situated on the bed properly, and he can coax estinien to lay back so he can climb on top of him]

Will you let me touch you, beloved?

[finalsteps]

[ He lays back easily, and tugs Aymeric along with him to ease him on top. ]

I would let you do anything you like.

[ ... ] Please, touch me.

[aymeric smiles before he leans in to kiss him, soft and indulgent and coaxing estinien to open his mouth]

[ oh, soft is nice. soft is very nice. ]

[ his mouth opens for aymeric, making a soft contented noise. ]

[hums back, pleased, and takes his time exploring estinien's mouth while his hands work on opening his tunic and running his claws (lightly) over his chest and abs]

[ he arches himself into the scratches. growling low in his throat.

His own hands are going to Aymeric’s too, but he’s not nearly as gentle or coordinated. ]

[aymeric breaks the kiss to let out a low groan from estinien's touch, relishing in the roughness of it, and retaliating by pinching both of estinien's nipples just to rile him up]

[ He growls and arches his chest into Aymeric’s hands. That felt good but, how evil. ]

Aymeric, Fury. You know what that does to me.
