[welcome to the holy see of ishgard.

the sky is overcast, as it always is, and there's a light flurry of snow covering everything. people walk about in heavy furs, breath fogging in the air. the streets are grey cobblestone, and tall and imposing stone buildings loom amidst wooden structures--some still in the midst of repair, although for the most part the structural damage from the end of the dragonsong war has been mitigated. the spires of a massive cathedral can be seen in the distance, towards the center of the city.

statues, too, are found in every square; the most prominent amongst them of a commanding-looking woman bearing a spear and a shield. people murmur quick prayers to her as they pass her by. "thank the fury," they say, as they mill about. there are some soldiers around wearing thick chainmail, though no one looks especially on edge. in fact, despite the chill in the air and the greyness of the sky, people look... normal. it's fair to say that the majority of them are elezen, tall individuals with pointed ears, though there are a few who look more "human". and once in a while, you might even see a young dragon flitting about.

the aetheryte plaza, where there stands a large glowing blue crystal, is most likely near where you ended up. with a bit of asking around, you can learn of a few choice locations--the forgotten knight, a prominent tavern known for their hot mulled cider; the brume, a collection of dwellings where the lower class tend to congregate; the skysteel manufactory, a workshop which develops constructs and other magitek; the chocobo stables; and the congregation of our knights most heavenly, aka the headquarters of the temple knights. you can go further into the city too, though it's probably pretty obvious where you'd find info about aymeric around here...]

[his expression melts into a terribly fond smile, setting his quill down and rising so he can move around his desk to stand before her]

[with a grateful expression, he nods to lucia, who nods back with a small smile]

I think I shall have my mid-morning tea a tad early today.

[lucia responds with an "of course, my lord" and closes the door behind her]

[As soon as the door is closed and she doesn't have to showing Improper Workplace Behaviour in front of Aymeric's colleauges she's going for the hug]

It really took way too long to get a day off, I've missed you. How've you been?

[he makes a soft noise when she hugs him, and tightly hugs her back, resting his chin on her head]

You're far too sweet as always. Well, I intend to fully make up for all the time apart now I'm here, between your busy work schedule.

I shall make time for you, I promise. And if I'm unable to be with you, you'll not want for activity.

[he reluctantly lets go of her as soon as he hears the door open, and a soldier enters with a short "my lord" and sets down a very nice platter of tea and pastries before leaving]

[Oh. Takes a step back from him when the soldier enters, a bit embarrassed, giving him a quick "thanks" when he puts the tray down and taking one of the pastries]

I did see plenty of interesting sights on my way here that could keep me busy. I dropped in on you quite suddenly, I know it's difficult at such short notice. However much time you can spare, I'll savour.

[aymeric pulls up a cushioned bench/sofa that looks like it's probably been slept on a few times but shhh. he sits and gestures for her to join him, pouring them some tea]

Someone in town was telling me about a workshop that made interesting weapons I'd love to get a look at. And a chocobo stable? I'm curious to find out what a chocobo is.

You're not familiar? They're large feathered birds we use as mounts and beasts of burden. The ones bred in the city's chocobo stables are the pride of Ishgard, to hear it told by those who tend it.

[pouring some birch syrup into his tea--a lot of it--before sipping]

I don't visit as often as I'd like, but the Skysteel Manufactory produces some truly ingenious designs. Do you know what a "gun" is?

Well I can't miss out on your home's pride. I'm more familiar with a gun than I am a chocobo, though I've never held one.

Then I believe we've two stops on your tour of the city, to begin with.

I'm looking forward to it already. Will we have time to drop by that bakery you mentioned before?

[peacetalks]

That can be our first stop. And...

[he hesitates for a moment, shy]

I've a guest room at my estate that you are welcome to use.

[oh no it's been too long since I've seen him be cute and I've just remembered how weak I am to it]

I'd, very happily spend the night, if you have a room going.

Work has been keeping me quite busy lately, but things at home are wonderful. My father is doing much better now.
